Veterinary and Applied Science Centre

The design of the new facilities, including its iconic entry gave VASC a focal point and a consolidated and reinvigorated identity. Forms and proportions were drawn from the existing structures and treated in a modern manner in the new extension. This resulted in the successful blending of the old with the new and the creation of a cohesive design language.

The teaching environment was required to reflect industry standard for both students and teaching staff.  Students require a state of the art learning environment reflective of the vocational environment. In addition to this the design team placed great importance on designing sensitively to the welfare and needs of the building’s non-human occupants.

The complexity of the project brief combined with the complexity of the existing buildings led to enriching opportunities for creative design.  The finished building is rich with interest, surprise, colour and form.
